I love costumes, and I love Shakespeare! It was time to put those loves together and try my hand at some Renaissance style garb!

I found this red velvet shirt at a thrift store and thought it would be perfect...
At the same thrift store outing, I scored with this eighties nightmare/princess dress. I knew I needed that black and gold lace!
Also, I'm thinking the leftover velvet and satin dress will make a mighty fine Renaissance costume refashion numero dos....

I removed the shoulder pads from the red shirt and rolled them up. Next I covered them in red fabric and the gold and black trim. These shoulder pads were about to be transformed into....shoulder pads! or - epaulets?
After much trimming and reshaping (including the insertion of a central panel) this jacket is the end result.
